Build a Line Challenge B’Sueboutiques.com Part 1

testing

I see you’ve met Sammy Kat, my sidekick. He is a jewel thief extraordinaire.

This is the first of 3 blog hops sponsored by BSueBoutiques.com    We are particpants in a  Master Class, facilitated by Brenda Sue Landsdowne.  Long before Brenda had her supply site on the internet she was the designer of a very successful line of jewelry.

Aren’t we the lucky ones?   We are learning the ins and outs of bringing a successful line to market from some one with first hand experience.

communications

I love a journey.. whether it is a trip into the past thru research or a bona fide road trip.  This peek in to the past has brought me from Egypt to France, Italy,  all about Europe, a detour thru Hollywood, and back to France.

journeys.png  I have enjoyed wandering thru the history of  jewelry from many different eras and never left my living room.

Understanding and respecting  the techniques which have stood the test of time and how the old masters continue to influence modern styles is important.

We are learning the importance of a cohesive look to your line. I need to work on that. I’m pretty much all over the map.

The theme I chose for my line utilizes the Straw Bonnet brass stamping. This stamping always makes me smile, whether I see it as a sun bonnet, worn at a day at the beach,  as a head covering while tending a garden, or a finishing touch to the outfit worn by a county woman out on the town. For me this bonnet embodies the gladness of Pollyanna.   I hope I can bring about that feeling in my jewelry line.

No matter how far I stray, I always wind up back here, at the messy desk putting together things that make me happy.

Please won’t you continue the blog hop by clicking on the links below.

We would appreciate a comment on our blogs to know you were here.

Enjoy

I love your cat! It looks a little grumpy, though. Mad because it doesn’t get a bonnet? Seriously, I think your idea is wonderful, and I can’t wait to see what you do with it. The bonnets have always intrigued me, but I always come up empty thinking of how to use them. Good luck!

Mary, I love you. You are very special to me, and you, Donna and I have a common bond and common things we deal with. But I know that if you strap that sunbonnet on, with Sammy Kat at your side, Knotafrayed! you will make your line into what you wish it to be. All through your journey through new worlds of jewelry you will gather bits and pieces for your trunk of ideas, like precious gems….which they are. Knowledge is power…..and energy. The energy and the know how to make it happen! Sally forth, girlfriend! So glad you jumped into class this year.

Your blog is one of my favorites that I read. I cannot wait to see your line. Your Cat looks a little possessed in that photo, is he gearing up to swipe your bonnets?

“Knotafrayed” is such a great play on words for a jewelry blog and shop! My daughter (2) said that Sammy has “scary eyes” LOL! I think the sunbonnet is a great piece to build a line around. I think some of those Carmen Miranda beads would make a fine fruit hat! Have fun creating! Renee H.

Mary, I loved reading your post, and I love your theme, using the sun hat! I also get a smile on my face when I see that hat! I have a few in my stash, and a couple in unfinished projects. The photo of you is so aprospros…could even be made into a logo for your line, imho! Can’t wait to see what you create, Mary.

I like sunbonnets too. I tend to collect them because every time I put one on, I feel so good that I have to buy it! My son has ADD so on one level I understand the difficulties. I also enjoy being in class with you and can relate to what you have to say. Looking forward to seeing your line.

Thank you for sharing with us Mary!

I adore Sammy Kat – my kitties are mischievous as well! Two of mine carry and hide items underneath furniture or in any cubby they can find. Lot’s of fun time is to be had searching for missing treasures in my house.

I am a bit of a traveler myself, I’ve been around the world a time or two, sounds like you’ve been to some fascinating places and had some amazing experiences.

Being an artist is a journey in itself. Building this line will definitely be an incredible one for all of us. It looks like you have a good idea of where you would like to take your line so far. I look forward to seeing what you and Sammy Kat come up with for next time!

I also love sunbonnets – although I look terrible in hats. I have never bought that stamping because I couldn’t think of what to do with it. Really want to see your creations.

You MUST make at least one cat in a bonnet piece as an homage to your furry friend . And don’t let him see the pic of him with techno eyes. . . if he knows it freaks you out he will be liable for a repeat. I look forward to this and wonder now what you have in your mind. . . .hmmmmmmm.

Great post, Mary! I enjoyed reading it, and your choice of the straw bonnet stamping is a super one … I can’t wait to see what you do with it. I’ve use it a couple of times, and it is a fun stamping! It’s great to be in class with you, and Toby waves to his buddy Sammy! 😉
